LATE MAORI CHIEF.
HIS SERVICES RECOGNISED. GIFT TO RAGLAN TOWN BOARD. Mr W. F. Wallis, of Morrinsville, has presented to the Raglan Town Board a framed photograph of the late Chief Wiremu Hera Te Awaitaia. In an accompanying letter Mr Wallis asked the board to hold the photograph in trust on behalf of the residents of Raglan, it was given in grateful memory of kindly actions rendered by the late chief to the donor's parents and grandparents during the troublous times of the Maori War.
A silver plate on the frame records the gift, staling that Hera died in i 860..
The board passed a vole of thanks to Mr Wallia for the presentation.
