FLIGHT TO AUSTRALIA.
GARDEN’S PROGRESS. ARRIVAL AT JAVA. DEPARTURE FOR BIMA. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyrlgnt. BATAVIA, November 3. Mr Oscar Garden, the young New Zealand airman who is flying from England to Australia, arrived at Weltevreden (Batavia) yesterday from Singapore. Leaving again early this morning. Mr Garden landed at Sourabaya, Java, at 10.40 a.m., and left at 11.15 for Bima. Mr Garden left Croydon on October 16, but made, .a forced descent at Folkestone. He started again next day from Lympne, Kent, and had been 18 days on the journey up to last evening. From Bima he should reach Darwin in two more hops. His progress to date is shown in the following table:— October 17.—Left Lympne. . October 22.—Arrived Bagdad. October 23. —Arrived Bushire. October 24.—Arrived Jask. October 28.—Arrived Calcutta. : October 30. —Arrived Rangoon. October 31. —Arrived Bangkok. November I.—Arrived Singapore. November 2.—Arrived Batavia. November 3.—Arrived Sourabaya.
