BOY ELECTROCUTED
CORONIAL INQUIRY. GISBORNE, Saturday. The adjourned inquest concerning the death of Thomas David Allanson, aged 14, who was killed by touching a power pole stay wire on September 27 was concluded to-day. Dr. Dudley, recalled, said he had not ordered a post mortem because he was satisfied from the boy’s condition and the history of the case that death was due to electrocution. . The Power Board’s officers gave evidence regarding the condition and position of the wires, deprecating the possibility of any contact between the stay and the live wires carrying either high or low voltage. The Coroner, Mr Barton, said he had no doubt, from the medical evidence and that of the two women who saw the occurrence, saw a flash on the wire, heard the boy scream and saw him fall, that death was due to electrocution and returned a verdict accordingly. He said he did not propose to add any rider, for it seemed any possible lessons were learned and would be heeded.
