PRICE OF MILK.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —I heartily agree with “ Anchorite ’’ anent the- exorbitant price charged the people of Hamilton for milk and cream. It really is a crying shame. The farmers who supply the dairy factories are squashed by the low prices, so it is quite in order to squash the .farmer who supplies the town. Just think what a grand time these dairymen are having. For six months we have had blighting frosts, howling gales and rain during which the townsupply dairyman rises in the dark and then starts off on his milk round. On Sunday he rises an hour earlier in older to attend church. It is really swiu! to think he gets a living wage in return for such easy work. Of course the people of Hamilton must have cream —nothing like it to preserve the sleeky appearance of the skin. The fact that the farmer cannot afford to have it himself Is beside the point. A fifty per cent, reduction in milk end cream would enable many a townsman to have a little pleasure in the way of pictures and sport not to mention the joy of a little extra “spotting” at the pub.—l am, etc., W. P. KENAH. Hautapu, October 29, 1930.
