A committee of the board, consisting of the chairman (Mr W. A. lorns), Messrs J. Dunlop, J. Hine, T. A. Winks, and J. R. Corrigan, had previously discussed the matter very fully • and recommended that the hoard should urge that all manufacture of standardised cheese be prohibited from November 1 to March 31 and that the position then be further reviewed.

After a full discussion the committee’s recommendations were carried by 9 votes to 2. STATEMENT BY MINISTER. MATTER FOR THE PRODUCERS. (By Telegraph.—Preys Association.') DANNEVIRKE, Friday. The Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. A. J. Murdoch, paid his first official visit to Dannevirke to-day, for the purpose of opening the Dannevirke Co-operative. Dairy Company’s new factory. In a speech the Minister said the South Island people had been urging the Government to prohibit the export of standardised cheese. At present standardised cheese was allowed by law, and as long as it was allowed by the law it would have Lo go on. It was for the producers to produce an article which was equal to the quality required by the purchaser in England and so obviate the necessity for the prohibition asked for.
