Agitators in Calcutta are trying a new device to harrass the Government and the Customs Department. in addition to offering for public sale small packets of contraband salt extremists arc reading at public meetings extracts from seditious literature already proscribed by the GovernmentIn a sharp clash between the police and students 13 combatants were injured and 30 arrests were made. The Mayor of Calcutta, Sou Gupta, was again arrested on a charge of publicly reading proscribed literature. A mob in Bombay attacked a police van carrying prisoners sentenced for offences against Hie salt law. Ten persons were injuredLONDON, April 12. The Daily Mail says the report of the Indian Commission will be presented shortly after Easter. It is expected to strengthen the Government’s hands because of the complete unanimity of the members of the commission, who represent all' the parties.
