Lord Bledisloe, Governor-G-eneral of New Zealand, and Lady Bledisloe, passed through Frankton this morning on their way from Wellington to Auckland. The Rig'hl lion. J. G. Coates, Leader of the Opposition, will leave Auckland to-morrow for Taihape and Palmerston North- He will attend the air pageant at Hastings next Saturday. Mr J. M. Dunn, representing Universal Films, is in Hamilton. Sergeant F. Culloty, of the Auckland police force, has received advice of his transfer to Gisborne. Messrs E. Wadham, E. W. Sinton, L. Roberts, S. C. Howard (Auckland), G. A. Hackley, R. Q. Fisken (Gisborne), and D. Richards (Christchurch) are at the Hamilton Hotel. With only one dissenting voice, the congregation of Knox Church, Dunedin, decided last evening to proceed with a call to Rev. D. C. Herron, of St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Auckland, to the pastorate of the church. Professor Speight has resigned from the chair of geology at Canterbury College and will in future devote all iiis time to the duties of curator of the Canterbury Museum, which now occupy part of his time. Professor Speight lias been for 40 years in the service of the Canterbury College Board. (Mr W. A- Kennedy, manager at Wellington for the Union Steam Ship Company for over 31 years, and the senior member of its staff, retired yesterday. He will be succeeded by Mr W. It. Price, of the Christchurch office. Mr Kennedy was the recipient of valuable presentations.
