POLITICAL SITUATION.

THE PARNELL SEAT. | CHOICE OF CANDIDATES. SEVERAL NAMES SUBMITTED. • AUCKLAND, Tuesday. The Labour nominations for the Parnell seat closed yesterday and the names were immediately transmitted to Wellington, where the national executive of the Labour Party is. to make the selection. The official Reform candidate may not he selected before next week and the United organisation does not expect to make a declaration of its choice earlier than the latter part of this week. The position in the Reform camp is that the nominations of Mr. Jenkins and Mr. R. Glover-Clark have been received at the party headquarters. Mr. A. J. Burrows has been accredited to the party, but his nomination paper has not yet been handed in. Mr. .J. S. Dickson has not yet decided whether lie will submit his name to the delegates and agree to be bound by their decision. THE LABOUR PARTY. MR. HOLLAND’S TOUR. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WESTPORT, Tuesday. In continuance of his Buller electorate effort in connection with the Labour Party’s national campaign Mr. 11. E. Holland, leader of tiie Labour Party, addressed a monthly slop work meeting for the Westport Waterside Workers’ Union ibis morning before very large attendances of members, and a resolution was unanimously carried pledging contribution of five shilling's per member to the party’s fund. Similar resolutions were carried at week-end meetings of the Westport, Main and Stockton Miners’ Union addressed by Mr. Holland.
