KITCHEN EVENING.
BRIDE-TO-BE HONOURED. On Tuesday last an enjoyable kitchen evening was given by Mrs F. C. Peace at her home in Fow Street in honour of Miss Clarice Scotnery, who is shortly to be married. Mrs Peace received the guests in a handsome gown of black lace over satin, and Miss Scotney was attired in a pretty frock of blue georgette. The evening was spent in games and competitions, and songs were pleasingly rendered by Air and Mrs A. Gordon. During the evening, after a goodly array of kitchen utensils had been opened, Mr Tidd, on behalf of the staff of the Hamilton Hardware Company, presented Miss Scotney with a handsome silver tea service and oak tray, suitably inscribed. Mr Tidd, in a brief speech, referred to Miss Scotney’s long association with the firm, and spoke of the esteem in which she was held by the staff. The manager of the company (Mr Peace), on behalf of the directors of the firm, then asked Miss Scotney to accept a set of Pyrex ware, and mentioned their regret at losing her, but wished her every happiness in her new sphere. Mr Sowerby, on behalf of Miss Scotney, briefly replied, after which the young couple were accorded musical honours. A very pleasant evening was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Sync.” Among those present were Mesdames Donovan, Tidd, Gordon, Beltis and Kelly, Misses McClelland, Holt, Pope, Morgan, Tidd, Meyer and T. Scotney, and Messrs Schofield, Gordon, Bettis, Morgan, Tattley, Kelly, Davis, Oliver and Howell.
