WEDDINGS

ANDREWS—MUIR. Of interest to a large circle' of friends in New Zealand was the marriage of Mavis Annie, elder daughter of Mr and the late Mrs F. P. Muir, of Giaorne, to William Keith, only son of Mr and Mrs W. A. Andrews, of Nelson, which, took place at Apia, Western Samoa, on Thursday, March 6. The wedding was celerated at the Apia Protestant Church, which was decorated with festoons of scarlet and white hibiscus by the nurses of the Apia Hospital. The Rev. H. S. Perkins officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of beige lace 'and a drooping felt hat of the same shade, and carried a sheaf of tropical flowers. Miss N. Steele, of Gisborne, and Miss Jean Muir (sister of the bride) ware' bridesmaids. They wore blue organdie flared frocks and hats of bine felt turned up in front. They carried sheaths of lemon and orange hibiscus. Mr J. F. Kronfeld attended as best man,' and Mr W. Johnson as groomsman. The reception was held at Mr John Collins’s flat in the Casino, where hung a large wedding bell of pink and white hibiscus. Among the guests was his Excellency the Adminfstrator, Colonel S. Allen. Mr and Mrs Andrews will remain in Samoa for two years, and will then make their home in New Zealand. Before the wedding a party was given on board the s.s. Tofua to celebrate Ihe event.

BOWEN—HYDE. The marriage was celerated at the Gospel Hall, Manawaru, on Wednesday between Grace Laura Gwendo-; lyue, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Ernest Hyde, of Springdale, and Eric Wilfred, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Bowen, Manawaru. The marriage was solemnised by Mr H. Isaac, evangelist, of Wanganui, and Mr'Ernest .Bowen officiated at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming frock of cream satin heaute, trimmed with silver lace, the veil being daintily embroidered in silk and arranged in capette fashion, with coronet of orange blossom buds. She carried a lovely bouquet of white roses and asters veiled in maidenhair fern. Tire bride was attended by her sister, Miss Ruth Hyde, who wore a frock of pink crepe de chine trimmed with black lace, her pretty bouquet being of pink rosebuds, asters and maidenhair fern, Mr Stan Bowen, of Australia, brother to the bridegroom, acted as best man. Mrs Hyde, the bride’s mother, wore mauve silk with pretty hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of mauve asters and fern. The bridegroom’s mother wore a suit of navy eelanese silk and a black hat. Her bouquet was of coloured sweet peas and asparagus./ The hall was beautifully decorated by friends with ferns and lycopodium. After the ceremony the happy couple were called upon to face the usual camera battery, and di-d so with perfect, good nature. At the public hall the wedding breakfast was largely attended, and many good wishes were expressed for the future health, wealth and prosperity of Mr and Mrs E. W. Bowen.
