TRAFFIC CONDITIONS.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—Will you permit me to write ft few lines with reference to the disgraceful traffic conditions of our main thoroughfare in these enlightened days? I have 'cause to complain, 'being one of the unfortunate men who have to deliver goods to various shops in the main street and consequently seem to come very much under the eye of one of our traffic officials, who delights in making things hard for those that do business In the town, whereas private cars stand along the pavement all day long apparently without complaint and certainly to the detriment of such as us, who need to draw into ■the pavement and deliver (very often) heavy goods and are unable to get within 50 yards of our situation. If, however, we should pull in at the nearest available place, perhaps near a crossing, then down comes the worthy inspector with a “mailed fist” always ready with pencil and paper to jot down the names of those of us who have to do this in order to earn cur living. I ask you, sir, how long is this state of affairs to continue? Is it not time that the Council move stationary vehicles into side-streets, or at any rate get the traffic department to relieve the congestion on the main street so that people in business can do their work without being in constant dread of a summons from the ‘dragon’ on the road. —I am, etc., VICTIM. Hamilton, Jan. 7-
