The annual report of the Wellington Automobile Club stated that the club s thanks were due to Mr H. 11. Sterling, General Manager of Railways, for the courtesy and help he had extended at all times in any application made to him. It was stated at the club’s annual meeting that Mr Sterling had taken a keen interest in making motoring safe, especially at local crossings. It seems the general opinion that the membership of the club Is too small,” said Mr E- A- Battat the annual meeting of the Wellington Automobile Club. Mr Batt considered that this was due to the psychology of the Wellington public, who, he said, were usuallv too apathetic to bother about joining any club. In many cases it did not matter to them whether they belonged to a club or not. Auckland, on the other hand, had a large membership- Of course, he added, there was a larger population there, but the psychology of the Auckland public was different.
