ADDINGTON MARKET. With 506 head of good quality fat cattle entered at Addington sale, values dropped by from 25s to 30s a head In the case of steers, by up to 30s for cows, and up to 20s for heifers. The yarding Included over 100 head from the North Island. .Best medium weight prime beef made from 42s to 44s per 1001 b, and a few pens of light heifers slightly more; good medium weight prime beef 39s to 41s, heavy steer beef 37s to 40s, good cow beef to 375, secondary 32s to 345, and light and rough to 30s. Only fair quality stuff was in the dairy cattle pens, and competition was Irregular, with the sale a dragging one at recent rates. There was little keenness in store cattle, and sex oral big straight lines failed to change hands. In a heavy entry of vealers good calves sold well, -though the unfinished stuff was more or less neglected. Values for fat sheep were down compared with the previous sale. At the start prices were only slightly easier, but as the sale progressed the decline became more pronounced. Shorn ewes fell as low as from 2/6 to 3/- a head, and shorn wethers by up to 2s, and in cases more. Store sheep met with a satisfactory sale, and ewes with lambs showed an advance of up to Is. Export firms operated for the first time this season in the fat lamb sale. Prices on an average were from Bid to 9d per lb. Fat pigs met with a demand slightly weaker than at the previous sale, and prices eased slightly. _ In the store pens weaners, of which there was a large entry, sold well at the start, but failed to maintain their level. Large stores sold well.

Fat Sheep.—Extra prime shorn wethers to 335, prime 293 Id to 31s Od, medium 25s to 28s Cd, light 20s to'24s, extra prime ewes to 28s 6d, prime 21s Od to 255, ordinary 19s Od to 21s. light 17s to 19s, best woolly wethers to 36s lOd, best woolly ewes to 34s Id, ordinary 25s to 30s, light 22s to 24s 6d.

Store Sheep.—Good crossbred wether hoggets (woolly) to 245, ordinary 3-bred ewe hoggets (woolly) to 245, ordinary halfbred (woolly) to 22s 9d, backward wether hoggets (shorn), 12s to 14s, good 4 and 6-tooth Romncy cross wethers (shorn) 21s 9d to 24s 6d, good 4, 6 and 8-tooth halfbred wethers (shorn) 20s 9d to 22s 3d, aged halfbred ewes with lambs (shorn) 10s 3d to 14s, aged halfbred ewes with lambs (woolly) 13s Cd lo 15s, ordinary 2 and 4-toolh dry halfbred ewes (shorn) to 21s.

Fat Lambs-—Extra prime lambs to 335, prime 27s 6d to 30s, ordinary 25s to 275, light 22s to 24s 6d. TATTERSFIELD LIMITEDThe seventeenth annual report of the above company shows that the profit for the year was £8430 16s 6d. Of this £2199 19s 3d was distributed in June, leaving £G23O 17s 3d to be dealt with. It was proposed to pay a final dividend of 4 per cent., making 8 per cent, for the year- This will absorb £2199 19s 3d; £2030 18s is to bp placed to the credit of the income tax reserve account, leaving £2OOO to lie carried forward. The directors consider that despite the general trade depression, lower selling values and increased Interest charges, the result of ilie year’s trading was satisfactory. Further structural improvements and additions to the plant are .contemplated. Whilst it is impossible to forecast business conditions for the coming year, the companies prepared to cope with conditions as they arise. Provision has been made lor staff bonus, depreciation and had and doubtful debts.
