WAIKATO HOSPITAL.

MMTJUMA OF BOARD. V The monthly meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board was held to-day. There were present:—Mr Campbell Johnstone (chairman), Mesdames Scott and Sims, Messrs P. Potts, G. Smith, T. Hinton, C, J. W. Barton, H. A. Bell, W. R. Lowry, J. J. Ilyburn, A. Livingstone, J. Price, A. Blackman and j C. Rolleston; also the medical superintendent, the architect and the secretary. It was announced that notice had .. bcen sent to the contributing local bodies of the board’s intention to erect additions to the isolation ward.

Tuberculosis Sanatoria. The board decided to oppose a proposal that boards in the North Island should co-operate, as some in the South Island have done, for the control of the tuberculosis sanatoria at Otaki and Pukeora, and others that might be erected. The chairman and secretary were appointed delegates to a conference to -be held at Palmerston North, on December 3, to discuss the ma When the report on Waikato patients treated at Pukeora and Otaki sanatoria during the past three years came before the board, a member pointed out that the cost per patient had risen very rapidly at the former Institution. The chairman explained that this was -due to the patients bcirnr kept'a longer time. He pointed that, on the other hand, the cost rw, r patient at Otaki had diminished. The rate of fees had not been altered.
