(To the Editor.) Sir, —We have been reading this week of the music and elocution competitions' at Cambridge. Cannot something be done to run such a fixture at (Continued in next column.).

Hamilton, a town which, by reason of the wide district of which it is the centre, is eminently suited to be the headquarters of such a society? I know that a year or two ago an effort made to revive competitions in Hamilton proved unsuccessful, but perhaps the time was inopportune. More success might be attained now. There is much latent talent in the town and district, talent which competitions would develop, and competitions in a centre like Hamilton should also attract entries from far afield. Won’t those interested try-again to resuscitate the society.?—l am, etc., COMPETITOR.
