“ LIVED IN FEAR.”

A WIFE’S COMPLAINT.

HUSBAND’S ALLEGED THREATS. MAINTENANCE SUIT FAILS. When Agnes Morgan applied in the Hamilton Magistrate's Court this morning for maintenance from her husband, John Thomas Morgan, farmer, Onehunga, His Worship, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., did not consider that the evidence submitted would justify him in making an order. Plaintiff told the bench that she had been taken from her husband by her children following unpleasantness at home. Her husband had threatened on more than one occasion to take his life and the lives of herself and children. The last time this threat had been made was some three or four months before she left him. He was very disagreeable In the house, she complained. “ You know you cannot leave your husband because he is disagreeable, and expect him to maintain you,” His Worship pointed out. . She had lived on with him for three or four months after he had threatened her and could not have been very frightened of him. “ Yes, but we lived in fear and trembling,” interjected plaintiff. His Worship advised her that as the children had taken her away from her husband they would have to support her unless she could show sufficient evidence to Justify making an order against her husband.
