PERSONAL. Miss Jordan, of Te Kuiti, is staying with Miss Christophers. Mrs P- 11. Smith and Miss Weston, of Pakuranga, are visiting Cambridge for the close of the hunting season. BRIDGE PARTY. On Friday afternoon Miss V. Garland gave an enjoyable bridge party. The room was prettily arranged witli large bowls of violets. Miss Garland wore a frock of delphinium blue crepe de chine. Those present were Miss E. Garland, Miss Joan Couper,
Miss D. Neely, Miss Helen Crowther, Miss Joan Veale, Miss Mary Short, Miss Aileen Nelson, Miss M. Collis, Miss R. Wilson, Miss N. Lindberg and Miss Mickimckeen.
THE HUNT. A big crowd attended the last meet of the Waikato Hunt on Saturday afternoon. The weather was perfect and an enjoyable day was spent by the followers. Miss Addie Brown and Mr Wynn Brown entertained everyone to a delicious afternoon tea, after the run, and the toast proposed to the host and hostess was enthusiastically responded to by the mem-, bers. Mr Crowther spoke of the excellent condition of the pack and of the good fortune of the Waikato Hunt in having so good a Master. Mr Wynn Brown responded. Those present were: Mesdames D. A very jolly dance was given at Mr Wynn Brown’s home after the final meet of the season on Saturday. Miss Addie Brown received the guests wearing a charming frock of black ring velvet. Those present were: Mrs R. Ranstead, wearing sunjdst taffeta; Mrs P. Clarkin, black georgette; Mrs J. Fisher, lavender chenille; Mrs C. Brown, mushroom crepe de chine; Mrs D. Gorrie (Auckland), silk embossed georgette and taffeta; Mrs G. Ranstead, peach pink taffeta; Mrs W. Ranstead, black beaded georgette;! Mrs Pilkington, black lace over cameo pink georgette; Mrs P. Smith (Auckland), phlox pink beaded georgette; Mrs F. Swayne, black georgette; Mrs C. Smith, periwinkle blue georgette; Mrs H. WEDDING. The marriage was solemnised at St. Andrew’s Church, Cambridge, on Thursday, August 29, between Daisy Linton, twin daughter of Mr and Mrs Hedley Hulme, of Maraeroa, Hokianga, to Albert Edward Warren Discombe, eldest son of Mrs Discombe and the lale Mr Discombe, of Pukeroro, Cambridge. The bride was attended by three bridesmaids, her twin sister, Miss Jeanne Hulme, her cou.sin, Miss Jean Hulme, and Miss Eileen Morton. Mr Jack Newcombe was best man, and Mr A. Iljulmc and Mr J. Discombe were groomsmen. The bride’s gown was of ivory georgette trimmed with ruchcd taffeta and hand-made silver tissue flowers, and falling to an uneven hemline. A Juliet cap held in place the lovely old Limerick lace veil, and she carried a bouquet of spring flowers. Miss Jeanne Ilulme wore a pretty frock of primrose georgette, fashioned with closcllting bodice and full frilled skirt.. Miss Jean Ilulme’s frock was of maize georgette and satin, trimmed with frills and hand-made flowers. Miss Eileen Morton wore periwinkle blue frilled georgette. All wore large felt hats to lone with their frocks and carried shower bouquets. The reception was held at the Domain Kiosk, where Mrs 11. Hulme received her guests wearing a beige marocain frock. Mrs Discombe wore a navy ensemble, with fox furs and navy hat.
After the reception Mr and Mrs Discombe left for their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a navy figured marocain frock, Chinese red leather ccat and navy hat.
