WINTER FARM SCHOOL.

LECTURES AT CAMBRIDGE. VERY INTERESTING ADDRESSES. The second Winter Farm School was commenced at Cambridge on Tuesday morning. The school has been organised 'by the Agricultural Department in conjunction with the local branch of the New Zealand farmers Union. The Department of Agriculture is represented by Mr E. J. Fawcett, farm economist, and Mr J. W. Woodcock, departmental instructor for the Waikato. Owing to sickness Messrs E. Bruce Levy and P. W. Smallfleld were unable to be present. Opening of School.

Before commencing the morning lecture, the president of the Farmers’ Union (Mr 11. Watkins) extended a welcome to the departmental officers. He emphasised the value to farmers of the Winter Schools. It enabled them to hear the latest information collected by the department’s experts during the previous year. There was an attendance of about 50 at the morning, and afternoon lectures, including Mr C. Meredith and a number of High School boys. The subject of the morning lecture bv Mr W. J. Woodcock was “Pasture Management and Top-dressing.” In the afternoon Mr E. J. Fawcett lectured on “Dominion Production. ’ Both lectures .were listened to with keen interest.
