TOWN TO PLAY COUNTRY. MATCH ON JANUARY 26. The Waikato Association’s annual match, Toswn v. Country, will be played on Saturday, January 26, at the Rosstrevor Street oourts, commencing at 10 ajn. AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. A CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT. The championship tournament of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association will be held on January 25, 26, 28, and 29. Entries close with the secretary (Mr L. W. Swan), Box 168, Auckland, by 5 p.m. on Saturday next. NGAHINAPOURI v. KOROMATUA. A tennis match was played at Ngahinapouri courts between Koromatua A and Ngahinapouri teams last Saturday, resulting in a win for Ngahinapouri by 17 sets to 6. The following are the results, Ngahinapouri names being mentioned first:— Ladies’ Doubles.—Miss Saunders and Mrs Meyer v. Mrs Weatherley and Mrs Mitchell, 6—l; Mrs Wilkinson and Miss F. Reid v. Misses E. and N. Barrett, 6—3; Misses E. Rybuprn and A. McGregor v. Misses CooperSmith and W. Jury, 4—-6. Men’s Doubles. —JV. and C. Reid v. Messrs M. Weatherly and E. Willis, 7—3; Messrs R. Men’s Singles.—W. Reid v. M. Weatherly, 3—7; G. Reid v. E. Willis, 7—3; R. Thomas v. M. Weatherly, 7—2; R. Meyer v. G. Hall, 7—5; O. James v. W. Maisey, 7—9. The above match was postponed in November on account of unsuitable weather conditions. Next Saturday the ? second round of the season will commence and Ngahinapourl A and B teams will again play Koromatua teams.
Last Saturday the B match was forfeited owing to the absence of a number of local players.
