STOCK SALE.

AT FRANKTON YARDS. , HUTTON PRICES FIRMER. AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. There was a large attendance of farmers at the weekly stock sale held at the Frankton yards yesterday. The ■beef prices were on a par with last week’s quotations, while the mutton rates were a shade firmer. There was a large yarding of fat pigs and an average number of store pigs were penned. Baconers and porkers brought in a better price than the previous week. The table given below shows the comparison between this and last week’s quotations: Beef (per 1001 b).

The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Go., Ltd , report: At Frankton yesterday we had a fair entry of fat cattle, and prices were again firm, values being in advance of last week. We had a small entry of fat sheep, with prices on a par with the previous sales. A full yarding of store sheep met with strong competition, the whole of the entry changing hands under the hammer. There was a heavy yarding of fat and store pigs with prices on the improve. We quote: Prime, medium weight steers, £l4 8s; light prime steers £l2 7s Gd; prime heavy fat cows, £lO 15s to £11; fat cows, £9 7s 6d to £9 19s; light and unfinished, £G 15s to £7 8s; vealers, £2 12s to £3 2s; fat wethers 325; light fat wethers, 28s 6d; prime fat lambs, 30s; a line of 146 woolly ewe.lambs, 25s lOd; 246 well grown shorn ewe lambs, 225; 173 big woolly wether lambs, 24s Id; 220 shorn wether lambs, 20s 2d to 20s lOd; 20G wellgrown mixed sex shorn lambs, 20s 2d: 50 mixed sex small woolly lambs, 17s 5d to 18s 4d; good rape lambs, 22s to 24s 6d; cull shorn lambs, Lis 2d to 14s 6d; small woolly lambs, 15s Id; 377 big frame 4-tooth to 4-year breeding ewes on • account of Mr Gerald Bull, realised 31s 3d; 101 5-year ewes from the same vendor 27s 3d, Pigs: Prime baconers, £3 2s to £3 7s; heavy baconers, £2 18s to £3 Is; light £2 12s to £2 17s 6d; heavy porkers, £2 6s to £2 10s; light £2 2s to £2 ss; stores, £1 13s 6d to £1 17s; slips, 24s 6d to 325; weaners. 9s to 245. Dalgety and Co., Ltd. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Hamilton report having held their weekly stock sale at Frankton saleyards yesterday, as under: There was a moderate yarding of beef, which sold at slightly higher rates than last week. Best young cows and heifers made £lO to £ll 7s. Medium weight cows and heifers, £8 10s to £9 7s Gd; inferior and light cows, £G 15s to £8 7s Gd;. runners up to £G 7s; vealers, £2 14s; dairy cattle, as usual. There were very few store cattle yarded which sold at late rates. Fat sheep sold at iate rates. Prime fat wethers sold at up to 31s 9d; medium wethers, 31s; forward wethers, 27s 6d to 295. There was a large yarding of store sheep and lambs, which attracted a large number of buyers from all parts of the district and prices were very satisfactory to vendors —in fact prices were the highest this season so far. Romney woolly mixed sex lambs sold up to 22s Id; medium and small woolly lambs (mixed sexes), 18s 8d to 18s lid; shorn forward rape lambs 23s 2d; cull lambs, 15s to 16s 3d; 400 5-year-old ewes, ex East Coast, brought 265; 163 2, 4 and 6-tooth ewes 25s sd; 153 failing mouth ewes, 18s;-66 ditto, 14s 6d. Pigs: There was a large yarding of noth baconers and porkers, prices being very llrm, a little in excess of last week’s rates. A fair average yarding of store pigs met with. a keen demand. Loan and Mercantile. The New Zealand Loan and Mer- ■ cantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report:—At the Hamilton sale yesterday we had an average yarding of beef, mainly good quality cows and heifers. There was a keen demand, and late rates were fully maintained. A medium entry of fat sheep, which were all required for the trade, showed no alteration in values. A full entry of store sheep came 'forward, a largo proportion being store lambs, which sold exceptionally well. We quote: Fat steers, £ls 12s Gd; heavy prime fat cows and heifers, £ll 6s to £l2; ditto medium weight, £8 15s to £10; lighter ditto, £7 15s to £8 10s; plain fat cows, £7 to £7 10s; heavy veal calves, £5 to £6; lighter ditto, £3 5s to £3 10s; cows in forward condition, £6 12s 6d to £6 17s; dairy cows, £9 5s to £ll ss; springing heifers, £9 to £10; fat wethers, £1 11s 9d to £1 12s; light wethers, £1 8s; light fat lambs, £1 3s 6d; 2-th store wethers, £1 6s 9d to £1 7s Bd.
