FLOWER SHOW.
ST. MATTHEW’S, MORRINSVILLE. A most successful flower show, promoted by the ladies of St. Matthew's Church, Morrinsville, in aid of the Anglican Church Organ Fund, was held at Morrinsville on Friday. Owing to lack of support and interest, the Morrinsville Horticultural Society has ceased to exist and the ladies of it. Matthew's Church are to be congratulated upon their successful effort to revive such a useful and instructive institution as a flower show in the town. The exhibits on the whole were good and were-artistically arranged in the large hall, making the display very attractive to the large number of visitors. It was a little late in the season to get some flowers, such as roses, at their best, but the display of sweet peas was gorgeous. Those shown by Mr Stringfleld could hardly be beaten. For vegetables, the show was a little too early for most growers in the district, and competition was not keen. Mrs Rix, of Te Aroha, and Miss Spencer of Auckland, acted as judges. Miss Hannan made a most efficient secretary, and the committee consisting of Mesdames Stringfleld, Faulkner, Chad- ■ wick and Miss Hannan, assisted by the ladies connected with St. Matthew's Church, managed to make the affair a complete success.
