MANCHESTER ODDFELLOWS

LOYAL HAMILTON LODGE. INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS. The installation of the newly-elected officers of the Loyal Hamilton Lodge took place at the lodge room. The room was taxed to the uttermost to accommodate visiting Waikato members, and visitors from other districts. After the ordinary business of the lodge had been transacted, and five new members initiated, the following officers were installed in a very interesting and instructive oeremony:— I.P-N.G-, Bro. W. Peters; N.G., Bro. W. Hebditch; V.G., Sister E. Morgan; E.S., Bro. I. E. Ousley; Warden, Bro. A. C. Bush. The installing officer was D.G.M. Bro. W. Gubb; investing officer, D.D.G.M. Bro. F. Best; conductor, P.G. Bro. F. Pickup. After a most enjoyable supper, provided by the local lodge, the toast of "The King" was honoured, followed by "Manchester Unity and Auckland District," proposed by P.G. Bro. Glanville (Cambridge), and responded to by the Auckland District Grand Master, Bro. W. Gubb, and the Deputy District Grand Master, Bro. F. Best. At this stage occasion was taken to present Sister Howie with a Past Grand's emblem, District Grand Master making the presentation on behalf of the Hamilton lodge. . Sister Howie suitably responded. "The Visiting Officers and Members ' was . proposed by F.S. Bro. T. W. Thompson, representatives of Te Awamutu, Tuakau, Ngaruawahia, Good Intent (Auckland), Cambridge, and Bulls (Wanganui) responding. "The Newly Installed Officers" was proposed by D.D.G.M. Bro. Best, the officers elected responding. D.G.M. Bro. Gubb, in proposing the toast of "Loyal Hamilton Lodge," paid a tribute to the secretary for the manner in which he had carried out his duties. In proposing the toast of 'The Ladies," Rev. H. E. Jones (Bulls Lodge), considered that since ladies had "been admitted as members of the Manchester Unity a revival of interest had been shown by increased attendance in the lodge room. This was evidenced by the large attendance that night. Sisters Dempsey and Best responded to the toast. The toast list was intersperse! with items by Mr W. Fenton and Bros. Ousley and Hebditch, the items being encored. Several dances were enjoyed to music supplied by Mr and Mrs Tombs (piano and violin), "Auld -ang Syne terminating a very successful function.
