BROADCASTING POLICY. TO BE OWNED BY GOVERNMENT. (By Tilegrapti.--Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian Press Association). CANBERRA, July 26. The new broadcasting policy contemplates that the Government shall be the owner of the plant and equipment of all A class stations and relay | stations. x\n organisation or com- | pany, is to be entrusted with the j task of providing entertainment proi grammes throughout Australia, and will receive a percentage of listeners’ j license fees, while the actual mechanical work of broadcasting will be carried out by. the organisations under contract with the Government. 1 The probable cost to the Government of taking over the broadcasting stations will be in the neighbourhood of £90,000. B. class stations receive no Govi ernment assistance, and no share of listeners’ fees as anticipated by them.
