WORKERS HONOURED.
CHURCH SOCIAL AT RIATANGI. The many friends of Miss 11. Thompson and Miss E. Buckingham, who have both been active workers in local church circles, and who are now leaving the district, met, in the Matangi Hall last Saturday evening to bid them adieu. Several pleasing items were rendered, and games and competitions caused much merriment and fun. Prior to a tasty supper being served, the Rev. Harris, in the absence of Mr Bryant, who was confined to his bed, in a few well-chosen words referred to the splendid work both the young ladies had done in the Sunday Sehool and as members of the Bible Class. He asked Miss Thompson to accept a Doulton silver-mounted biscuit barrel, and Miss Buckingham a handsome bedroom clock as tokens of their esteem and appreciation. Miss Thompson, who was organist at the Presbyterian services, was also the recipient of a beautifully bound Bible and a manicure set from the managers of her church. Mr Thompson and Mr Buckingham responded for their daughters.
