MAY ACCEPT LEADERSHIP. A CANDIDATE FOR PARLIAMENT. (By Telegraph—Special to- Times.) WELLINGTON, Monday. It is persistently reported here that Mr W. J. Poison, Dominion President of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, has signified his willingness to accept the presidency of the United Party, and that at a meeting t-o be held to-day he will be appointed to that position. Mr Poison will, it is stated, be a candidate at the general election, but for which constituency has not yet been decided. It- is understood he will be the accredited leader of the Party, with which the Country Party will probably become associated.
