Lieutenant-Colonel H. Copeman, of Norwich, England, is on a holiday visit to New Zealand.
The Hon. Williams, Minister of Public Works, left Tauranga to-day for Thames on'a tour cf the Coromandcl Peninsula.'
The Prime Minister, Mr Coates, after opening the East Coast Railway at the Tauranga celebrations yesterday, returned to Wellington last evening.
Mr H. J. D. Mahon, 8.A., has been appointed headmaster of the Auckland Grammar School. The vacancy had been created by the death of Mr J. Drummond. Mr Mahon is 54 years old.
Mr. and Mrs. F. J. McQuarry (Wellington), Mr and Mrs H- Thomas (Fiji), Messrs. 11. Moffart, W. Fish, A. A. Roberts and R. D. Duncan (Auckland) are among the visitors at the Grand Central Hotel.
Viscount Cave has resigned the Lord Chancellorship of Britain. Lord Cave is disappointed that he has not made more rapid progress after his recent operation. His strength is returning very slowly.
Mr J. 11. Gilmour, political cartoonist and journalist, has accepted an engagement with the United Political Parly, and will have charge of the Dominion publicity campaign for the coming elections.
The guests of the Hamilton Hotel include: Mr G. Pottingar (Shanghai), Miss R. Shipley (Parramatta, Sydney), Mr and Mrs 11. A. Spence (Central Utago), Messrs. F. Denhurst and F Stevens (Auckland), Captain C. P. White and Mrs White (Wellington).
The Hon. A. D. McLcod, Minister of Lands, who attended the celebrations at Tauranga, remained overnight in order to receive a number of minor public and private deputations to-day. He will leave for Frankton this evening and join the limited express for Wellington.

The new Administrator of Samoa, Lieut.-Golonel S. S. will leave Auckland for Samoa on "the Tofua, which is scheduled to sail on April 21. He will be accompanied by his wife and six-year-old son. Early next week Mr Allen will go to Wellington to confer with the Prime Minister on matters concerning his new office.
Rev. Father Bleakley, Parish Priest, of Hamilton, in view of his intended visit to Ireland, was farewelled by members of the clergy of the southern portion of the Auckland Diocese. The Right Rev. Dr. Liston presided, and extended to Father Bleakley the good wishes cf those present, and presented him with a token of their esteem.
