THE WHITE HORSES.
Two eminent New Zealanders and an Australians who not long ago visited the scenes of Anzac bravery in Palestine were a little embarrassed by the attentions of their Arab hosts. After a meal they were presented .with Bedouin robes and daggers of finest workmanship. Then, as they departed, they found in the courtyard three white Arab horses, beautifully caparisoned. Sir James Parr, who represents New Zealand in London, was invited to take his choice. 'What was he to do? How could he get the beautiful creature home? Jh’ solved the problem by making bis hosts this little speech:— “1 gratefully accept your gift, and as I intend to return one day I beg you to keep this wonderful steed for me, so that when I come I may ride with you over your country.” His two companions, Sir Edward ti hay tor and General Dodds, in their turn made similar replies, and all parted the best of friend^
