WALTON.

Hall Society’s Social. The local Hall Society’s annual social was held on April S, and although there were a good number of young people present the older residents were conspicuous by their absence.

In presenting the report and balance sheet the president, Mr A. Adams, said it was a matter for regret that those who had for so long supported and taken an active interest in the hall should become apparently so disinterested as to stay away from the annual meeting. The year’s operations had been successful and the overdraft had been reduced by £SO, and he thanked the public for its support. The county council had not completed the front entrance; however, it was sufficiently completed to enable the committee to concrete around the front of the hall, which was a much-necdcd improvement. Mr Jas. Jenkins had resigned his position as secretary, having left the district, and Mr W. W. Kuhtz was appointed in his stead until the end of the year. On the motion of the president, seconded by J. W». Attwood, the report and balance-sheet were adopted. Mr A. McDonald was proposed as a member of the society.

The secretary, Mr W. W. Kuhtz, then called for nominations for the new committee. The result was: President, Mr A. Adams; secretary, Mr W. W. Khutz; vicepresident, Mr J. W. Attwood; members, Messrs A. McDonald, G. Mathers, A. Conning, T. Watson. Mr A. E. Gillingham was reappointed auditor. The balance-sheet for the year ending.
