RUSSIAN MINERS' LOT. CONDITIONS WORSE THAN BRITISH STATEMENT IN THE COMMONS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received June 9, 12.10 p.m. LONDON, Juno 8. In tho House of Commons the fact that much Russian money Is coming to the help of tho British miners was Invested with special interest by Sir H. Pago-Croft's question: "What are the working conditions of the Russian coal minors?" Lieut. Colonel Q. R. Lane Fox, Minister for Mines, replied: "The Soviet code laid down six hours a day and 44 hours continuous rest weekly, but he understood tho Russians actually worked eight and even ten hours a day, earning between 25s and 27s 6d weekly. Therefore as regards both wages and conditions, the Russians wero In a desperate condition compared with tho British miners."
