MATANGI SCHOOL
—_. + MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Matangi School Committee was held on Saturday evening, the chairman, Mr Lee Martin, presiding over a full attendance. The secretary reported the following credits to date: —School fund account £6 Os 2d, school grounds improvement account £-15, flagpole £5 Os 7d.
It was decided to apply to the •Education Board for a refund to the school account of £l3 ss, which had been paid out for sanding and tarring. The secretary was instructed to obtain information as to cost and construction of flagpole. It was decided that hot drinks bo available for the scholars at the school from Monday.
The secretary was requested to communicate with the Primary Schools' Association regarding stationery.
A visiting committee consisting of Mesdames Trownson, Hick, and one other was set up lo visit tlie school each month and report at each meeting.
The present system of heating the school was discussed. It was the general opinion that the present method by stoves was expensive and quite inadequate, and it was therefore decided to write the Education Board witli a view to having electrical heaters installed in all classrooms. .
Messrs Trownson and Richardson were appointed with full power to attend to the fencing of the playing area, and also the ofiher improvements suggested by the late committee.
A circular was received from the director of school hygiene giving information for guidance of parents whose children undergo medical examination by the board's oflicers. The next meeting was fixed for June 28.
