ARBITRATION AWARDS.
CONCILIATORY SPIRIT NEEDED. (Times Correspondent. WELLINGTON, Monday. "It is only reasonable to expect that some agreement should be reached when an award has been in existence for some time, and a dispute about its provisions comes before a Conciliation Council," remarked his Honor Mr Justice Frazer, in the Arbitration Court this morning. "It is inconceivable that the whole of the agreement can be in dispute, and a little conciliatory spirit on either side ought to be shown and an agreement reached on as many points as possible, so as to lighten the subsequent work of the Arbitration Court when the dispute is finally referred to it." Mr Frazer was prompted to make these remarks when the New Zealand Storemcn and Packers' dispute was mentioned. It was staled that the Conciliation Council proceedings bad been practically fruitless, only one or two minor clauses being agreed to. His Honor suggested a further conference between Hie parties before the dispute conies before him this week.
