.—« MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. A meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held to-night. The conditions under which the cycle road championship may be decided were reviewed. A lengthy report was received from Mr J. W. Mcllolm. trainer and companion travelling with R. A. Rose, the New Zealand distance champion. The letter was received from Winnipeg. It stated that Rose's style had been highly praised by a local coach, who srdd his style was excellent. The following were chosen to represent New Zealand at the Australasian championships: S. A. Lay, Hawera, javelin; J. W. Shirley, Auckland, .high jump, hurdles and decathlon; G. S. Cabot, Dunedin, walking events. They will be sent at the expense of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association. They will leave New Zealand on July 30 by the Ulimaroa, and will return by the Maunganui on August, 27. The profit from the lour of the Americans was £1255. Of this sum 25 per cent, will go to the council and Hie balance will be divided among centres and chilis pro rata to the protils made on meetings. In passing Rose's record of -i.13 for the mile Mr Heenan said it was a pity the record would not be recognised in South Africa or Great Britain. It WAS i'oally an Empire record, being onc-fiflh of a second better than that of A. G. Hill.
