BRIGADE CALLED OUT.

FIRE ON ROOF OF BUILDING. WORKMEN BURNING TAR. Workmen engaged in carrying out repairs on the roof of the Wesley Buildings, Hamilton, this afternoon, set fire to a quantity of tar for the purpose of sealing down certain work. A column of flame and dense smoke shot into the air and a taxi-man on the Commercial Hotel stand, seeing this, and not knowing' the cause smashed the glass of the fire alarm at the corner and caused the brigade to rush to the spot. Their services, of course, were not required.
