A DISMAL FAILURE.

COUNTERS CATHCARTS "ASHES." SYMPATHY FOR THE ACTORS. (Times.) (Received March 17, 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, March 10. The Dally Mail states that her Ellis! Island advertisement did not save the Countess of Calhcart's play, "Ashes," which was a dismal failure at thai Prince of Wales Theatre. The story is of a young married society woman, who eloped with a waster to South America. It had scarcely a line which was not a distinct echo of better plays of similar theme. The Times extends sympathy to tha actors, and cannot guess why the play was produced.
