DESTRUCTIVE FIRES.

NEWSPAPER OFFICE DAMAGED.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) MASTERTON, Thursday.

Shortly after noon to-day a fire occurred at the office of the Daily Times, in the rear portion of the building. Considerable damagb was done by the Are and water, but the brigade made a smart save, the damage being confined to the rear part.

MOTOR 'BUS BURNT.

AUCKLAND, Friday.

A large motor omnibus owned by G. H. Boler and run by the Premier Motor 'Bus Company, while standing at Blockhouse Bay beach, burst into flames and was destroyed. The only occupants, George Wyatt and child and the driver, were not injured.

OLD HOMESTEAD BURNED.

WHANGAREI, Thursday,

Yesterday while Mr and Mrs J. Gust were at the races ,the old homestead at Abbey Caves, on the Wharcora road, was destroyed by fire. The house comprised seven rooms, was owned by Mr James Harrison, and was insured for £2OO, while the tenants' furniture was covered for £250. Nothing was saved.
