THE LEAGUE GAME.
TOUR OF AUSTRALIA. The New Zealand League has arranged the following trial games with a view to selecting the .New Zealand team to lour Australia: — j unc g.—A and B match, at Dunedin. June 13. —West Coast v. Canterbury, at Christ church. j unc 20.—Wellington v. Manawatu, at Foxton. Junc 27.—South Island v. North Island, at Auckland. The final selection will be made after this match. The council has decided to send Messrs Pcarce and Hardingham to witness all the games in the South Island. The New Zealand team will leave Auckland on July 3 for Australia. At last night's meeting of the council Mr Ball, secretary of the Australian Board of Control, advised the terms of the Queensland League, which provided for 50 per cent, of the gross takings after ground charges of 15 per cent, had been deducted. These terms caused much adverse, comment., in view of the great assistance given by New Zealand learns when touring the Stale of Queens, land. It was decided to reply in the terms of a resolution passed by the council refusing to accept the terms offered. .., , The manager for the tour will be definitely appointed next Thursday. The following will represent Athletic against Frankton at Hincmoa Park on Saturday:—Gavanah, Tapp, Brown, Spencer, Lang, Childs, Vernall (2), Staunton, Graham, McGormack. Shaw, Mawhinney, Rogers, Brockel, Kerr.
