RIDD MILKING MACHINE COMPETITION.
STARTLING BUTTERFAT RETURNS, 'WITH THE USE OF THE RIDD MACHINE. THE FINAL RESULTS, One of the most interesting competitions that has ever been organised by a commercial enterprise is that which has been conducted at the Winter Show by the Bidd Milking Machine Co. The numerous cards which have been received by the company show excellent returns, as is shown 'by 1 the undermentioned figures. The final results and Hie names of the prize-winners arc as follows: — SO Cows and Under. —Mr Thos. Inglis, Eureka: 3381 b buttcrfat per cow. Mr Inglis, who is operating a 4-cow plant, and is milking 47 cows, secured across return of 15,0721 b. bulterfat. \ ' Not Over 75 Cows and not Under 51.—Keightley Bros., Springdalc, Waitoa; 323.6521 b buttcrfat per cow. These prize-winners, who arc milking 52 cows, received a gross return of 1G,8301m. A 5-cow standard plant is employed. Not over 100 Cows and not Under 76.—Messrs Yickers Bros., Ngarua, Waitoa; 333.731 b buttcrfat per cow. In this instance a 4-cow standard plant was used. The herd, comprising 90 cows, returned to their owners 30,0371 b. butterfat. Over 100 Cows. —F. W. Walters, Esq., Waitoa, 293.5ib butterfat per cow, per his sharemilker, H. Robinson, who used a 6-cow . plant, and milking 120 cows secured 35,25G1b. buttcrfat.
