CHRISTCHURCH WOOL, SALE. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. The third wool sale of the local scries was commenced last night, and will be continued to-morrow. The succession of good prices which has marked the sales this season was continued, and a number of new figures were recorded. The catalogue comprised 26,676 bales, of which 42G0 were offered last night' and sold. "Willi the exception of 27 bales the wool lacked the brightness and general condition of the last sale. The long sequence of nor'westers has resulted in much of it bein"- seedy and earth-stained, and consequently heavy in condition. Practically every buying country was represented on the benches, and the wool appeared to be in demand by all .of them. Bradford provided the strongest buying end, notably of three-quarter breds and merinos. Their activity for the latter was in contrast to last sale when, however, there was little merino forward. Pieces again wenl soannc, and some remarkable figures' were made for fme lots. Fellmongers had difTicultv in securing wool which would show a margin for handling. The best pieces are so far 30Jd for merino 28-? d for halfbred, 283 d for Corried'ale, 26Jd for three-quarter bred ''Old for crossbred, 27J for halfbred, "l7ld for crossbred pieces, Lid for'merino crutchlngs and locks, and 22J d for merino bellies. There was an all-round advance in price on December rales, notably for super merino, good three-quarters, and halfbred wools and fine pieces.
