MOTOR VEHICLES TAX.

REVENUE FOR HIGHWAYS FUND. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, Saturday. The question of motor vehicles taxation was discussed at the meeting of the Main Highways Board on Thursday. It was decided to write to the Minister of Finance requesting that in addition to the moneys derived from the tyre tax the Main Highways Fund be credited with the whole of the revenue derived from the taxation imposed on the importation of motor'vehicles. It was urged that as the present expenditure on mam highways was being incurred in order to cope with the requirements of the motor vehicle it was only reasonable that the Board should derive the benefit of the whole -of the revenue from that source.
