A CHARGE DISMISSED. By Telegraph—Press Association. NAPIER, Monday. In his reserved judgment the Magistrate, Mr Dyer, dismissed a charge against James Haughan, a barman, and eight others, for conducting a lottery uud taking part respectively. The winner was required lo pick the highest number of horses winning in the C.J.C. meeting, six bottles of beer being the prize. The Magistrate held that it was not a lottery, as the chances of a prize were obtained gratituiously, and none of the competitors risked anything. The information was dismussed.
