ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

AUCKLAND, Saturday. A shooting accident, resulting in the death of a young man named Eric Ridgley, aged 20, occurred at Ramarama, near Drury, yesterday afternoon. The youth was riding on the top of a waggon load of posts, with his gun lying beside him. The weapon was shaken off the waggon, and in falling the trigger became caught, and one barrel was discharged. The shot entered the right side of the young man's chest.

The sufferer .was brought to the Auckland Hospital by motor, arriving there shortly before eight o'clpck. He rapidly sank, and died about three hours later. The deceased, whose father is railway stationmaster at Pahiatua, had recently been employed as a bank clerk at Tauranga, and was spending a holiday with friends at Drury.

HOKITIKA, Saturday. Thomas McGillicuddy, 40 'years, of Oreymouth, was fatally injured yesterday near the Mananui sawmill. He was engaged trucking gTavel on a tramline when he fell and the wheels passed over him, crushing his right shoulder. . He died a few hours later in Ihe Westland Hospital.
