IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.

BRITAIN'S LEAGUE OF NATIONS. ITALIAN PAPER'S COMMENTS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. (Received October 5, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, October 4. The Morning Post's Rome correspondent says the Giornale D'ltalia in a article headed "British League of Nations" recounts in its own fashion the history of the development of Imperial Union during and since the war. It declares that there was a time when British Conservatives feared that Britain would become the prisoner of her Dominions, who after the peace treaty proved a failure vvere about to make their power felt in London, and were only restrained by Mr Lloyd George's demagogic cleverness. The Giornale is persuaded that something material will emerge from the Conference; and is of opinion that the Dominions will reach an agreement among themselves in a deeper sense than with Britain. This would be of historic importance. The world is now confronted with a mass of 200,000,000 people who raise, their voice while unfolding the banner of Saint Ocorge.
