In connection with the missing steamer Baron Blanlyre, the captain of the steamer Carina, which has reached Melbourne, reports that when off the south-eastern coast of South Africa, at the time of the earthquakes in Japan, the sea suddenly became most confused', and waves tumbled aboard. This lasted an hour, and then the sea became normal. The captain suggests that the Blantyre had a similar experience in a worse form in the Indian Ocean and was engulfed.
