POSTAL FACILITIES.
THE NEEDS OF TE UKU. A SITE DECIDED ON. (Special to the Times.) TE UKU, Friday. A large gathering of the settlers was held here yesterday to meet the Chief Postmaster (Mr W. T. Coad) and Cliief Telegraph Engineer (Mr J. G. Webster) to Anally decide on a suitable site for the new post office and telephone exchange for Te Uku. Mr W. J. Lusty occupied the chair and .with Mesrs Dent, Fountain, Proudlock and Lusty made very optimistic remarks in honour of the occasion and the great potentialties of the district were pointed out. The settlers made a gala day of the occasion and full justice was done to a very sumptuous repast provided by the ladies of the district. After Messrs Coad and Webster had responded the company moved to the proposed site which was marked by the N.Z. ensign. / Pegs were formally driven in by the visiting officials to mark the site of the new office and hearty cheering and the singing of the National Anthem closed the proceedings.
