BELLBIRD DISASTER.

CONCLUSION OF INQUEST.

FINDING OF THE JURY.

ROYAL COMMISSION SUGGESTED

United Press Association. SYDNEY, October 4

After lasting 10 days, the inquest on the victims of the fire and explosion at the Bcllbird mines has concluded. Many thrilling stories of individual heroism were told, but no direct evidence was given as to the cause of the disaster, or how the victims died. The jury found that the men died from carbon monoxide poison caused by a fire or explosion, but there was no evidence to show how the fire or explosion originated. Riders were added recommending the appointment of a Royal Commission to investigate the cause of the fire, the establishment of a central mine rescue station, and amendment of the Coal Miners' Regulations Act.
