TAUWHARE.
JLiIU TT ZUIXI. Entertainment. A somewhat unique entertainment for Tauwhare was recently held at the residence of Mr Dave Neil, who had the rare pleasure of entertaining the Glen Massey Burns Club. The members, thirteen in number, under the able leadership of Mr Byres, arrived from Glen Massey per motor lorry. Several local residents were invited by Mr Neil to meet this entertaining company, who provided a most enjoyable musical programme, extending into the wee sma’ hours. In fact, it developed into an all-night sitting. The genial host left no stone unturned to add to the enjoyment of his guests. The visitors left per motor lorry the .following day. Dairying. The welcome sunshine, after the recent rains, is having a very beneficial effect on the pastures, and the country is looking splendid. As a result the milk supply is increasing, and the suppliers are making two trips daily to the Matangi factory. As the company’s lorry is not running this year several new members have been added to the home separators, thus saving two trips daily to the factory. Mr W. Goodacre, of Scotman’s Valley, who carted the cream for the home separators last season, performed his duties so faithfully that he has again been given the contract. Several settlers are having heaters installed in the milking sheds. The School. School re-opened with a full attendance after the recent vacation. The sohool tennis season has opened with the fine weather, and it is hoped the children will make good use of their fine concrete court during the summer months.
An addition of between 50 and 60 books has been made to the school library, and given an added zest to reading. The horse paddock has been reploughed by Mr A. G. Massey, who intends to plant it in turnips, after which it will be laid down in grass, and made into a permanent playing ground for the children.
