KING IN MADRID.
RESIGNATION OF CABINET.
LARGER CITIES CALM.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. Received Sept. 15, 12.40 p.m. MADRID, Sept. 14
The King arrived and conferred with the Premier, arter which' it was announced that the Cabinet liad resigned. A semi-official statement declares that the expression "military revolt" incorrectly describes the position, and emphasises that calm prevails in Madrid, Barcelona, Sargossa, Bilbao, and other principal towns. The troops everywhere are "confined to barracks, and the streets wear their accustomed aspect. Shops and offices are open, and work has not ceased in Barcelona. Military action is only visible in the occupation of telegraph and telephone offices.
Derivera, Captain-General of Barcelona, has published a telegram he has received signed by the CaptainGeneral of Madrid, and four generals, adhering to the movement pending the arrival of the King, who would decide what should be done. Derivera, in a statement to the Press, declares that he was inspired by the example not or Mussolini, but of the Spanish hero, General Prim.
