FILM DIRECTOR'S DEATH TWO ACTRESSES DETAINED. THREE MEN INVOLVED. (Australian and N.Z- Cable Assn.) Received October 10, 0.35 p.m. WASHINGTON. October 0. According to a Dos Angeles lclegram i two actresses have been held in connection with the death of A. L. Stein, aged 2(5, assistant-director of the Century Film Corporation.
An autopsy revealed that Stein apparently died from acute alcoholism, following a drinking party in his room. Stein was the professional associate of Fred Fishback. who was a gifcsl at the Arbucklc party.
Telegrams and notations bearing on the Arbuckle case were found in Stein’ s room.
The actresses, Mrs Jeanne Munroe and Miss Mildred Bellwln, declared that three unidentified men were also under the influence of liquor with Stein before the latter’s death.
