RACING PERMITS
HOROWHENNA CLUB'S PROTEST A. AND P. SHOW THREATENED (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) LEVIN, Thursday. A large indignation meeting of all sections of the community passed resolutions last night protesting against the Racing Committee's withdrawal of the Horowhenna Racing Club's permit. The speakers claimed that Levin was entitled to a permit on the Committee's own population basis. The Racing Club and A. and P. Association purchased the ground by the issue of debentures, for £1,500, two years ago and have since spent £2,000 in improvements. The withdrawal of , the racing permit means the extinction of the show, as it would be unable to maintain the ground without the Racing Club's co-operation. THE COMMISSION'S REPORT, SUPPORTED BY TE KUITI. TE KUITI, Friday. The local racing club upholds the finding of the Racing Commission, and will ask. other clubs to back it up. It will also send a delegate to Wellington when the report is before Parliament.
