ISLAND TRADE

THE POSITION OF AUCKLAND. BUSINESS MEN PERTURBED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Thursday. A conference of business men, interested in the Island trade, discussed Auckland's position in view of the Fijian Government's arrangement with the Commonwealth line for steamship connection between Britain, Fiji, and Australia. Emphasis was laid on the decline in the Auckland trade in recent years, and on the need for a regular service to recover it. A committee was appointed to confer with the Chamber of Commerce.
